WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY
My name is Richard Ashbee and I live in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. I have a deep passion for photography and the natural world, visiting locations both in the UK and in Europe and particularly enjoy trips to Shetland and France.
The inspiration comes from nature it’s self , whether in the back garden or out in the country, there is always something to see. An understanding of nature is essential to be able to photograph birds, mammals, insects or flowers in their natural environment. I would therefore encourage everyone to get to know the subject in more depth as it will enrich your whole experience and give the image more meaning.
We all need to revitalise our sense of wonder to explore and get excited by what we see, photography is a great way to do this and to share these experiences. Nature photography is very challenging; it helps develop patience and slows you down, encourages you to venture out in all weathers and is satisfying when you come back with a good image that gives a tantalising glimpse of the natural world
Good photographs come with a desire to learn. I gain a lot of information from looking at other people’s photographs, reading books and magazines especially on out door or nature photography and also being a member of the BTO, RSPB, Shetland Bird Group, Sorby Natural History Society & Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.
I hope these images contribute to the general appreciation of our precious wildlife, hopefully encouraging us to all to share our experiences
